Why PGT Is Updating Its Impact Window and Door Product Lines
A Decade of Product Overlap
PGT’s acquisitions of CGI®, WinDoor®, Eco®, and NewSouth® significantly expanded their market presence. But with these additions came unintended overlap—multiple products with similar names, similar performance, and similar designs across different brands. Many homeowners found themselves comparing windows that were nearly identical in every practical way.
To solve this, PGT is reorganizing everything into three clear product families. This new structure eliminates confusion, reduces duplicated models, and creates a far more intuitive set of choices.
Why PGT Is Updating Its Impact Window and Door Product Lines
What This Means for Homeowners
The streamlined catalog leads to clearer pricing, improved lead times, and easier decision-making. Instead of comparing five or six similar windows, homeowners can now quickly identify whether an entry-level, mid-tier, or premium product is the right fit.

Impact Door Updates: What’s Changing for PGT Impact Doors
Streamlining the French Door Lineup
Several French door models are being phased out to reduce redundancy. The 101 and 750 French Doors, along with all Sentinel-branded French doors, will no longer be offered. Removing these doors helps focus the lineup on stronger, better-performing models that are easier to compare.

PGT 160 French Door
(Formerly Sentinel 160)
The 160 French Door continues forward as a core option in the new catalog. It maintains its 3-1/8″ frame depth, offers both integral-fin and equal-leg frames, and achieves design pressures up to ±80. Panels can be manufactured up to 42″ × 96″, and homeowners can choose from white, bronze, and clear anodized—now joined by an increasingly popular black finish.
A New Lower-Priced 160 French Door
Launching January 1, this new variation of the 160 French Door offers a cost-effective design that includes a double-bored configuration and excludes hardware to keep pricing low. Despite the reduced cost, it still performs better than the discontinued 101 French Door and provides a stylish, durable option for price-sensitive projects.

PGT’s Engineering Improvements & Testing Standards
PGT continues to refine its engineering across all product tiers. Structural improvements such as enhanced corner joinery and tighter sash-to-frame sealing have increased overall design pressures and durability. Optional SGP interlayers add another layer of strength and clarity for homeowners who want the best visibility and resilience.
Every product goes through extensive testing, including large and small missile impact testing, 4,500-cycle pressure testing, multi-impact validation, and post-impact operability checks. PGT is also consistently involved in Florida Building Code development, helping define the standards that the entire industry follows.

PGT Impact Window Colors, Hardware, and Design Options
Homeowners now have more customization options than ever. Standard colors include white, bronze, clear anodized, and the increasingly popular black finish. What The PGT Impact Window Restructure Means for South Florida Homeowners

PGT vs. ES Windows: Competitive Positioning After the Update
ES Windows has historically attracted South Florida homeowners with high design pressures and heat-strengthened glass included at no extra charge. Their vertically integrated manufacturing model also supports strong availability.
However, PGT’s new structure strengthens the brand’s competitive position. PGT generally offers sleeker frame profiles, consistently meets HVHZ requirements, and often delivers products about three weeks faster than ES—an important advantage during peak hurricane season or under tight renovation timelines.
Final Thoughts
PGT’s reorganized product structure eliminates confusion caused by redundant lines and creates a clearer, more intuitive buying experience. Whether you’re choosing Sparta, WinGuard, WinDoor, or comparing PGT against ES or ECO, these updates make the selection process easier and more reliable.
