CWS Hurricane Guard aluminum impact windows offer familiar styles, impact-resistant glass, and options tailored to your home. We’ll help you compare the exact products approved for each opening and show you what is included in your price.

A practical starting point
Replacing every window in a home is a significant investment. You may want dependable hurricane protection while keeping the starting price as low as possible. You may also want to spend more on particular glass options, a patio door, or the rooms where appearance matters most.
CWS makes it possible to start with an aluminum impact-window package and choose upgrades where they make sense for you. In our experience, its standard glass package can be one of the most affordable options we offer.
The right choice still depends on your opening sizes, the products approved for them, and what features, options, and styles you want to include for your home.

Options for your home
CWS Hurricane Guard aluminum impact windows are available in several styles. Mixing styles can give you ventilation and flexibility where you need it and a wider view where you don’t.
01 / VENTILATION
Open vertically and suit many traditional bedroom and living-area openings.
02 / FLEXIBILITY
Open side to side where an outward-opening sash would get in the way.
03 / DAYLIGHT
Stay closed for a clear view and can be paired with operable windows nearby.
04 / AIRFLOW
Hinge at the side and crank outward for ventilation in suitable openings.
Available sizes, configurations, finishes, and glass choices vary by product.
We’ll check what can be specified for each opening before recommending a style.
Know your approval
Impact glass is an important part of a hurricane window, but it does not work alone. The glass, frame, hardware, dimensions, and installation method form a tested assembly. A product approved in one size or configuration should not be assumed to have the same rating in another.
You may see design pressure listed on a proposal. It describes the inward and outward wind pressures the tested assembly is rated to resist. The figures can differ between window styles and sizes.
For a South Florida home, the useful comparison is the approval and design pressures for the exact product proposed for each opening. We’ll identify those details in your quote so you can see how the selected windows meet and/or exceed the state guidelines.
Your glass choice
CWS impact windows use laminated glass with an interlayer designed to help the glazing remain a barrier if struck by storm debris. For the aluminum products discussed here, heat-strengthened glass is an optional upgrade rather than part of the standard package in our comparison.
Heat-strengthened glass undergoes controlled heating and cooling. Under comparable loads, glass of this type is approximately twice as strong as ordinary annealed glass of the same thickness. That describes the glass material; it does not mean a completed window can withstand twice the hurricane impact. The full window’s tested approval remains the guide to its storm performance.
Our estimates put the CWS heat-strengthened-glass option at approximately 9% above the standard CWS window price. If you’re interested, ask for both glass packages in your proposal. You’ll see the cost for your actual window sizes rather than rely on a general percentage.
One useful comparison
In Assured Storm Protection’s typical window comparisons, the difference depends on the glass package:
CWS with standard glass compared with the ES MultiMax package we quote.
CWS with heat-strengthened glass compared with that same ES MultiMax package.
Our ES MultiMax comparison package includes heat-strengthened glass. Adding that option to CWS increases its price by approximately 9%. If your priority is the lowest initial window price, standard-glass CWS deserves consideration. If you want heat-strengthened glass, ask us to compare matching sizes, styles, approvals, and installation work.
These percentages are estimates for typical window comparisons, not guaranteed savings on a whole-house project. Your written quotes will show the actual difference for your home.
The company behind the product
CWS has made windows and doors for Florida’s coastal market since 1986. Pella acquired CWS in 2019 and Lawson Industries in 2023. The Lawson brand retired in 2024, and its products and manufacturing transitioned into the CWS portfolio.
You may still hear a product described as “former Lawson,” or hear CWS associated with Pella. Those names explain the company history, but they do not tell you which window, glass package, or warranty you are buying. Your proposal should identify the CWS model selected for your home and the written warranty that applies to it.
Please be cautious of companies presenting the builder-quality (entry level) Lawson windows as CWS windows. They are not the same.

This page focuses on the aluminum impact products we are discussing for your project. If you’re interested in a different CWS material or product line, tell us so we can compare the appropriate options.
Window and door planning
CWS offers impact patio doors as well as windows. Choosing CWS windows does not mean every door on your project has to come from the same manufacturer.
In our pricing comparisons, some CWS French and entry-door options have been substantially more expensive than comparable alternatives, sometimes around twice the price.
Available designs and configurations also differ. If your project includes a door, we’ll compare its appearance, glass, approval, and price separately. With us, you can choose from any door manufacturer in our catalog, so you can take advantage of the best style, options, and price throughout your entire project.

A separate door comparison gives you the freedom to choose CWS windows while selecting the door that works best for your entrance or patio.
A quote you can compare
A clear quote lets you judge the complete project. A lower initial number may reflect a different glass package, fewer openings, or a different installation scope.
Before you decide, confirm both the manufacturer’s written warranty for the selected products and the installers warranty for the work.

Common questions
The answer depends on the particular products and openings. CWS offers impact windows with approvals for demanding coastal applications, but the correct model, size, configuration, and installation must be selected for your home. We’ll check those details as part of the proposal.
Glass choices such as Low-E coatings may help manage heat entering your home. Actual savings depend on your existing windows, the glass selected, your home, and how you use air conditioning. We can show you the available glass options without promising a specific reduction in your bill.
Yes. A mixed-brand project may be the best way to get the window price, door design, and features you want. Each product still needs the appropriate approval for its opening, and your proposal should clearly identify every selected item.
A clear next step
CWS aluminum impact windows are worth considering if you want hurricane protection with a lower starting window price. We’ll measure your openings, review the glass and style choices, and show you exactly what is included before you decide.
