The Bertha Hurricane Shutter fits the needs of consumers looking for a high quality accordion shutter product with a proven track record. The Bertha exceeds the ASTM and TAS standards, and are approved under HVHZ Florida Building Codes.
At Assured Storm Protection, we carry three different lines of hurricane shutters. We do so in order to offer a better selection to our customers with more available options! One of our most popular options are peek holes, a clear plastic hole that allows some light through the shutter when in the closed position. Peek holes are only available with the Bertha High-Velocity Accordion Shutter!
Available Accordion Shutter Colors:
There are four attractive colors available: white, ivory, beige and bronze using a high quality paint finish.
Bertha Lock Options:
The Bertha Accordion Shutter offers four lock options unlike other shutter products currently out on the market:
- Push Lock: The most popular lock choice.
- Mortise Lock: Makes for a great security shutter.
- T Handle: The standard for many years in the industry.
- Egress Lock and Salt Water Lock for high corrosion areas.
All of the Bertha’s locks are effective and simple to operate!
Bertha Blade Options:
We offer two blade options: HV1 for up to twenty stories, and HV2 for high rise applications.
High Velocity (HV) offers a direct mount starter which gives the shutter a cleaner appearance then other shutter systems out on the market, and only required four screws per side; two top and two on the bottom of the direct mount accordion shutter installation.
When the shutter is in the open position it takes very little away from the aesthetics of the home. Our system offers an extremely tight stack, and is only surpassed by the Supernova Accordion Shutter. The appearance of the Bertha Shutter is improved by the consistency between standard window openings and the shutter. Each and every window opening will have the same uniform appearance.
Other Hurricane Shutter Features:
Our center mates offer handles both inside and outside the shutter. This adds for easy closing and a very neat appearance when in the closed position. The locks are sufficient to hold the center mates closed in the case of a hurricane. The High Velocity Bertha Shutter does not require locking rods (rods are optional).
We also offer a window port which can be installed into the blade after or during manufacturing of the shutter (peek holes). This window allows light into the dwelling and allows the homeowner to see out of the opening while the shutter is in the closed position. A great feature for people who maybe uncomfortable in enclosed surroundings, these peek holes are illustrated in the picture of the accordion shutter on this page.
Because of our commitment to testing and development; our increased levels of performance enable you to install taller accordion shutters on your home. This allows for shutters to be installed where higher pressures are required. Our tallest test sample was 192 for a finished shutter of 16 3. The Bertha also offers larger hinge points for increased tolerance between components. We pride ourselves in not skimping when it comes to testing our ASSA products.
Our screws are coated with Dacroshield to prevent corrosion. This coating is one of the key reasons HV sets itself apart from competitor accordion shutters. Corrosion will affect the performance and life span of your shutter, especially at weak points such as where screws are installed.
Locking rods are available at an additional fee with a 3-year warranty maximum.
